Transportation
FREE transportation so all students can get to school safely and on time — shared busing takes all K–8 students in the same household together.
We understand that some families may face vehicle challenges that can result in students arriving late to school — or, in some cases, being unable to attend altogether. At South Pointe Junior High, we are proud to offer free transportation to ensure that all students can get to school safely and on time. Our shared busing system allows all K–8 students in the same household to be transported together to and from school.
Request Process
Fill out the transportation request form with your current home address (to identify your route) and a working contact number or email. Requests take 48–72 hours to review and approve; some routes may have a waiting list. Current routing area: S. 51st Avenue to S. 51st Street (east–west) and south of Dobbins Road to north of Elwood Street (north–south).

Student Transportation Safety & Expected Student Behavior
Bus Stop Safety
- Get to the stop at least 10 minutes early
- stand three giant steps (6 ft) from the curb, lined up away from the street
- wait until the bus stops, the door opens, and the driver says it’s okay before boarding
- cross only in FRONT of the bus, five giant steps (10 ft) ahead, where you and the driver can see each other
- use the handrails and watch drawstrings and bag straps at the doors
- never walk behind the bus
- if you drop something near the bus, tell the driver — never pick it up yourself.
- Obey the bus driver at all times
- Be at your designated stop 15 minutes before pick-up
- Stand a safe distance from the curb or highway while waiting (50 feet is the recommended distance)
- Always identify yourself when asked by the driver
- Be courteous to the driver and other passengers
- When crossing at your stop, always cross in front of the bus
- Always use the handrail when boarding and offboarding
- Sit quickly and quietly in your assigned seat
- Remain seated, facing forward at all times, most importantly while the bus is in motion
- The aisle is not to be blocked at any time
- No eating, drinking (except water in plastic bottles), smoking, chewing gum or spitting inside the school bus
- Keep hands, head, arms and all objects inside the bus
- Talk in normal tones — loud, rude, vulgar, or obscene language is prohibited
- Keep the bus clean and free of damage
- All items carried by students (instruments, athletic equipment, backpacks, etc.) must be under their control at all times — carried in the lap, between seats, or properly secured in a vacant seat
- Skateboards, scooters and rollerblades are not allowed
- Students are not permitted to change bus stops nor buses at any time — changes require a parent/legal guardian’s written request, countersigned by a school official
- Students may ride only their assigned bus
- When approaching your stop, remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop
- All students must show a student ID card to the driver upon request
